MAY 2026 • MEMORIAL DAY EDITION

Hey neighbor! Grab your coffee — it’s time for your weekly update on what’s happening in our little corner of Georgia, from Snellville all the way down Highway 78 to Winder and Monroe. Memorial Day weekend is here, the farmers markets are in full swing, and the housing market has some news worth knowing.

What’s Happening This Weekend

The corridor is alive this Memorial Day weekend! Here’s where to take the family:

The Monroe Market — Downtown Monroe

Every Saturday, 8:30am–12:00pm through October 31st. Fresh local produce, artisan goods, baked treats, and community fun in the heart of Downtown Monroe. A perfect Saturday morning stop!

Covington Farmers Market — Covington Square

Saturday May 23rd on the Covington Square. Arts, crafts, local farms, and food vendors in one of Georgia’s most charming downtown settings. This is an open market day — don’t miss it!

Winder Market on the Square — 30 N. Broad St, Winder

Saturday mornings in Winder’s growing downtown district. Local vendors, fresh goods, and small-town community energy. A great way to support Barrow County businesses!

Real Estate Trend to Know

Inventory is rising across the corridor — and that means opportunity for buyers.

If you’ve been sitting on the sidelines waiting for more choices, 2026 may be your year. Gwinnett County’s total homes for sale is up 35.6% year-over-year, while Barrow County inventory has climbed 25.9% compared to last year. Across all four counties, the number of homes dropping their asking price is also on the rise — a signal that sellers are getting more realistic.

For sellers, the takeaway is clear: pricing right out of the gate matters more than ever. Well-priced homes are still selling. Overpriced homes are sitting. Let’s talk strategy before you list.

Memorial Day Homeowner Checklist

Georgia Summer is Here — Is Your Home Ready?

Memorial Day weekend is Georgia’s unofficial starting gun for summer — and in our corner of the state, that means heat, humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms. Use this weekend to knock out a few smart homeowner tasks:

✓ HVAC Service: Replace air filters and schedule a professional tune-up before the heavy cooling months hit. A struggling A/C in July costs far more than a May checkup.

✓ Seal Windows & Doors: Georgia humidity is relentless. Check weatherstripping and caulk around windows and exterior doors to keep cool air in and moisture out.

✓ Attic Ventilation: Proper attic airflow can reduce your home’s heat load significantly. Check that vents are clear of insulation or debris.

✓ Gutters & Downspouts: With summer storm season ramping up, make sure gutters are clear and downspouts are directing water well away from your foundation.
